Member of the Federal Cultural Foundations Jury for "General Project Funding"
Sabine Himmelsbach, born in 1966, is an art historian and has served as director of the House of Electronic Arts Basel (HeK) since March 2012. She studied Art History, Medieval History and Ethnology at LMU Munich. Following several projects at galleries in Munich and Vienna, she worked as the project director for exhibitions and accompanying symposiums at the Steirischer Herbst Festival in Graz from 1996 to 1999. Between 1999 and 2005, Ms. Himmelsbach was the director of the Exhibitions Department at the Centre for Art and Media Technology Karlsruhe (ZKM). As one of its curators, she developed numerous exhibitions and accompanying programmes on contemporary and media art-related themes, including “Coolhunters. Jugendkulturen zwischen Medien und Markt” (Coolhunters. Youth Cultures in the Media and the Market) and “Resonanzen. Körper im elektromagnetischen Feld” (Resonances. Bodies in the Electromagnetic Field, 2005). From 2005 to 2011, Sabine Himmelsbach was the director of the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art in Oldenburg.
