New Länder Fund funding criteria
The New Länder Fund supports non-profit projects and organizations which take place or are situated in East Germany. The Federal Cultural Foundation grants funding to regional cultural projects in the areas of the fine and performing arts, literature, music, film, photography, architecture and new media.
The Federal Cultural Foundation awards funding on its own initiative to projects and organizations irrespective of their legal form. No formal funding application process is planned for the foreseeable future. Operational funding is granted on the condition that the project administrators provide proof that the funding has been used as intended to establish a new organization or finance the continuing operations of a newly established organization.
The Executive Board of the Foundation is solely responsible for making funding decisions. In consultation with cultural experts in the East German Länder, the Artistic Director is responsible for evaluating the projects' artistic merit as this serves as the basis of the funding decisions. The Executive Board informs the Board of Trustees of the projects and organizations which have been selected for funding.
