Cabinet. A Turkish-German Theatre Bazaar
A joint programme by the Theater Freiburg and the garajistanbul (Turkey) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund
In Germany everyone knows Helmut Kohl, Jan Ulrich and Marlene Dietrich. But what about Turgut Özal, Bülent Ersoy or Kemal Sunal? This theatre project by the Theater Freiburg and garajistanbul will focus on ten German and ten Turkish public icons from the world of politics, entertainment and media. A German-Turkish group of actors, dancers, musicians and video artists will acquaint themselves with the other culture's "cabinet" of celebrities in joint trips, workshops and rehearsals. The resulting scenes and images of these cultural identities will coalesce into a theatre production that will be presented at the garajistanbul, the first politically independent theatre in Turkey, followed by performances in Freiburg.

The Wanderlust Fund
The German Federal Cultural Foundation established the Wanderlust Fund to support German municipal and state theatres that wish to engage in a partnership of exchange with a foreign theatre for a period of two to three seasons.
Wanderlust blog
In February 2010 the participating theatres began sharing their impressions of their joint meetings, workshops, guest performances and co-productions in our Wanderlust blog. In addition each season, three Pfadfinder (scouts) head out and visit the Wanderlust projects, describe the international theatre partnerships and document these exciting cross-border encounters in texts and images.
