Family Ties
A joint programme by the Theater Heidelberg and Teatron Beit Lessin in Tel Aviv (Israel) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund
When we think of the relations and history of Germany and Israel, the word "normality" is perhaps the least likely to come to mind. For exactly this reason, the Theater Heidelberg and the second-largest theatre in Israel have developed a joint theatre project that focuses on "normal life" within the smallest societal unit - the family. Six artistically independent teams of German and Israeli actors, directors, filmmakers and fine artists have been commissioned to create performances for public areas, "family arrangements", plays and presentations for the Heidelberger Play Market. Youngsters from both countries will accompany the productions and make a film documenting their impressions of these encounters.

The Wanderlust Fund
The German Federal Cultural Foundation established the Wanderlust Fund to support German municipal and state theatres that wish to engage in a partnership of exchange with a foreign theatre for a period of two to three seasons.
Wanderlust blog
In February 2010 the participating theatres began sharing their impressions of their joint meetings, workshops, guest performances and co-productions in our Wanderlust blog. In addition each season, three Pfadfinder (scouts) head out and visit the Wanderlust projects, describe the international theatre partnerships and document these exciting cross-border encounters in texts and images.
