Frau Luna. The Launch of a Berlin Operetta from the Border
A joint programme by the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt and the Opera in the Castle in Szczecin (Poland) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund
Since 1992 the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt and the Opera in the Castle Szczecin (Stettin) have engaged in a vibrant exchange of guest performances, projects and audiences, titled "Theater Grenzenlos" [Theater of No Limits]. Now for the first time, the partner theatres wish to collaborate on a large co-production, Paul Lincke's operetta "Frau Luna" which first premiered in Berlin in 1899. The operetta will be performed by German and Polish actors and singers, chorus, ballet and orchestra in Schwedt, Frankfurt/Oder and Stettin. The production will also be accompanied by joint work visits and workshops involving both ensembles. The programme also calls for close cooperation in the area of marketing in order to attract audiences from both sides of the border. A public workshop discussion on cross-border theatre projects will conclude this cooperative venture supported by the Wanderlust Fund.

The Wanderlust Fund
The German Federal Cultural Foundation established the Wanderlust Fund to support German municipal and state theatres that wish to engage in a partnership of exchange with a foreign theatre for a period of two to three seasons.
Wanderlust blog
In February 2010 the participating theatres began sharing their impressions of their joint meetings, workshops, guest performances and co-productions in our Wanderlust blog. In addition each season, three Pfadfinder (scouts) head out and visit the Wanderlust projects, describe the international theatre partnerships and document these exciting cross-border encounters in texts and images.
