My Cold Chamber
A joint programme by the Puppentheater Halle (Saale) and the Compagnie Louis Brouillard, Paris (France) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund
The production "Cet enfant" by the French writer and director Joël Pommerat was shown at the "Theater der Welt" festival, hosted by the Neues Theater in Halle in 2008. Audiences and theatre artists alike were especially taken by the terse, reduced style of acting and dialogues that were structured with clinical precision. The general theatre director Christoph Werner, who will return to the Puppentheater in Halle in the 2010/2011 season, will jointly develop a play and puppet theatre production with Joël Pommerat in a two-year cooperative effort. Following a series of joint workshops, Pommerat will begin rehearsing for his production "Ma chambre froide", a sociological black comedy that takes place in a supermarket. Puppet artists from Halle will join the rehearsals and develop ways to integrate puppets into Pommerat’s production. Following the premiere at the Théâtre National de l’Odéon, where Pommerat is engaged as an artist in residence for the 2010/11 season, the puppet-theatre version of the play with the title "Meine Kältekammer" (My Cold Chamber) will be presented at the Neues Theater in Halle.

The Wanderlust Fund
The German Federal Cultural Foundation established the Wanderlust Fund to support German municipal and state theatres that wish to engage in a partnership of exchange with a foreign theatre for a period of two to three seasons.
Wanderlust blog
In February 2010 the participating theatres began sharing their impressions of their joint meetings, workshops, guest performances and co-productions in our Wanderlust blog. In addition each season, three Pfadfinder (scouts) head out and visit the Wanderlust projects, describe the international theatre partnerships and document these exciting cross-border encounters in texts and images.
