The Voices of Russe
A joint programme by the Theater Osnabrück and the Drama Theater in Russe (Bulgaria) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund
Elias Canetti was born in the Bulgarian city of Russe in 1905. In the same way he carefully approaches a different culture in his novel "The Voices of Marrakesh", the theatres in Osnabrück and Russe will make their first contact by exchanging personnel, actors and new plays. The partners will co-produce the German premiere of a Bulgarian play in Osnabrück, organize a writing workshop with a Bulgarian writer and host guest performances by actors from both ensembles. The main collaborative project will be the joint performance "Rustschuk - Die gerettete Zunge" (The saved tongue) based on Canetti's biographie and directed by Ivan Stanev; the piece will combine German texts with the choreographic style of Bulgarian theatre.

The Wanderlust Fund
The German Federal Cultural Foundation established the Wanderlust Fund to support German municipal and state theatres that wish to engage in a partnership of exchange with a foreign theatre for a period of two to three seasons.
Wanderlust blog
In February 2010 the participating theatres began sharing their impressions of their joint meetings, workshops, guest performances and co-productions in our Wanderlust blog. In addition each season, three Pfadfinder (scouts) head out and visit the Wanderlust projects, describe the international theatre partnerships and document these exciting cross-border encounters in texts and images.
