Cultural Projects in Central and Eastern Europe
Europe is not only a geographical location – it is a cultural and intellectual sphere with many common historic ties. The Federal Cultural Foundation established the programme area Central and Eastern Europe to encourage European artists to work together and establish permanent structures of cultural cooperation in Europe.
Following the completion of "Büro Kopernikus - German-Polish Cultural Projects" (2004–2006) and "Bipolar - German-Hungarian Cultural Projects" (2005–2007), the Foundation continued the series of bilateral cultural programmes with neighbouring countries in Central and Eastern Europe with its programme "Zipp – German-Czech Cultural Projects" (2007-2009). These bilateral projects included all artistic areas – theatre, dance, music, film, media art, etc. – and examined the important issues in Europe today, such as the memory of totalitarianism and issues of immigration.
