Funding top institutions and cultural infrastructure in the area of Music and Sound
Germany is not only the birthplace of New Music. Even today New Music is one of most dynamic fields of contemporary art in Germany. The Foundation is strongly committed to strengthening the acceptance and response to New Music among audiences and the media.
Two institutions in particular are closely linked to the musical avant-garde in Germany – the Ensemble Modern and the Donaueschingen Music Days. The Foundation funds the activities of this world-leading orchestra in Frankfurt am Main as well as the festival of New Music held each year in the Black Forest.
In 2007 the Federal Cultural Foundation established the New Music Network with the aim of introducing New Music to a larger audience in Germany. The network is comprised of 15 model projects that coordinate the work of committed citizens and the artists of New Music on location.
Ebenfalls der Musikvermittlung hat sich das Großprojekt Jedem Kind ein Instrument verschrieben. Es ist der Beitrag der Stiftung zur Kulturhauptstadt Ruhr 2010.
