Prof. Dr. Clemens Börsig

Dr. Clemens Börsig was born in Achern, Baden in 1948. After finishing his studies in Economics and Mathematics at the University of Mannheim in 1973, Dr. Börsig worked as a research assistant at the universities of Mannheim and Munich until 1977. He received his doctorate in Political Science in 1975 from the University of Mannheim. In 1995, he became an honorary professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.. Between 1977 and 1985, Dr. Börsig was employed at the Mannesmann Corp. in Düsseldorf, where he worked in the corporate planning department at the company headquarters. In 1983, he became the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Mannesmann-Tally. In the following twelve years, Dr. Börsig worked at the Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart, first as the director of the central business administration department, and in 1990, as a member of the management. He was a member of the board of directors and the Chief Financial Officers of the RWE AG in Essen for three years, and in 1999, joined the Deutsche Bank as General Manager and Chief Financial Officer. In 2001, he was appointed to its board of directors and, in the following year, was promoted to Chief Risk Officer. Dr. Börsig was elected chairman of the supervisory board of the Deutsche Bank AG in May 2006.
In addition to his activities as chairman of the supervisory board of the Deutsche Bank AG, Dr. Börsig is also a member of the supervisory boards at the Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Linde AG and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. Furthermore, he is a non-executive member of the board of directors at the Foreign & Colonial Eurotrust PLC.
His cultural activities include his position as chairman of the board of the Cultural Committee of German Business within the Federation of German Industry (BDI), curatorial membership in the Society of Friends of Bayreuth, the Society to Promote the Munich Opera Festival and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden Cultural Foundation.
