Steffen Kampeter

Mr. Kampeter was born in Minden, Westphalia on 18 April 1963. He is Protestant and married with three children. After his graduation from the Besselgymnasium in Minden in 1982 and a period of military service, he studied Economics at the WWU Münster where he received his diploma. He started working as a researcher at the Institute of Transport Economics at the University of Münster and then went on to work for Preussag AG.
Kampeter has been a member of the curatorial panel for “Der Grüne Punkt - Duales System Deutschland AG” since 1997, and is also a member of the German Phono Academy. He joined the CDU in 1981 and has been the district chairmen of the CDU in Minden-Lübbecke since 1999. Kampeter has been a member of German Bundestag since 1990 and has chaired the parliamentary budgetary committee for the CDU/CSU since 1999. In November 2005 he became the CDU/CSU parliamentary speaker on budgetary policy and, in 2009, was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary under the Federal Minister of Finance.
