Klaus-Dieter Lehmann has been awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, the Order of Merit, 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany, and an honorary doctorate from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. He is also an honorary professor at the University of Frankfurt am Main and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and a member of the curatorial board of the Bertelsmann Foundation.
