Current Funding Opportunities

Funding opportunities

In addition to General Project Funding for all artistic areas, the German Federal Cultural Foundation also develops its own, fixed-term programmes. These focus on providing targeted funding for specific themes or artistic areas.

Where can I apply for funding?

General Project Funding

Cultural institutions can apply for funding twice a year in all artistic and cross-disciplinary areas. Only innovative projects with an international context can receive General Project Funding from the Federal Cultural Foundation.

Who is it for? Large and medium-sized cultural organisations, associations and structurally organised groups | no funding for solo artists

How much? Applicants must request at least €50,000 and contribute at least 20% of their own equity and/or third-party resources.

Submission deadlines: Every year on 31 January & 31 July (12pm)

Programme funding

Foyer des Anneliese Brost Musikforums Ruhr, tuned Ideenfestival

We develop multi-year, application-based funding programmes on current cultural issues through extensive research and consultation with the cultural scene. Its funding enables theatres, libraries and museums, for example, to engage with new audience groups and critically examine their existing structures.

The application periods for our current programmes are all closed. At the moment we are exclusively funding projects currently in progress.

Update: We will provide new information about funding opportunities here on this page at the end of 2026.
