Projektbeschreibung

Is it possible that art could dream up an entirely different world today? In spring 2027 Theater Rampe will explore this question in depth with a lecture-performance festival on six stages in and around downtown Stuttgart. In cooperation with local cultural organisations, such as the Literaturhaus Stuttgart and the Akademie Schloss Solitude, the festival wants to explore how emancipatory ideas can be reformulated today. The project has invited renowned artists to participate, e.g. theatre artist Rabih Mroué, playwright/performer Nicoleta Esinencu and choreographer/performer Michael Turinsky. In their artistic-poetic pieces, they develop new narratives on solidarity, equal opportunity, pacifism, global justice and other topics. With a critical stance against communist tyranny, the readings and performances draw on the values and themes discussed at the historic International Socialist Congress, which also took place in Stuttgart in 1907.

“120th Anniversary of the International Socialist Congress” is funded through General Project Funding by the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
