School of Cow Comfort

The artistic-curatorial collective “!Mediengruppe Bitnik” has launched a long-term artistic project entitled “School of Cow Comfort” with the Kunsthalle Osnabrück, which will run from 2026 to 2027. It examines how AI technologies influence our basic needs and the central issues of our time, e.g. the agricultural industry, global nutrition, climate protection, animal welfare and terraforming. In cooperation with the farm Hof Pente, “!Mediengruppe Bitnik” together with Dasha Ilina, Simon Weckert, Joana Moll and Gordan Savičić/Selena Savić will conduct artistic field research. In critical dialogue between art and science, and theory and practice, the organisers plan to develop five artistic works based on agriculture-related AI-technologies: the Internet of Things (IoT), precision technologies, robotics, machine learning, drones, Big Data/analytics and connectivity technologies. The project will culminate in the “Harvest Festival”, a three-day learning and teaching camp at Hof Pente in autumn 2027, where visitors will have the opportunity to view five new productions and share their thoughts in workshops and discussion formats. The project’s partners also include the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, the University of Osnabrück and the Skulptur Projekte Münster (Sculpture Projects Münster).
