Projektbeschreibung
With “Gate to the World”, the Theater Magdeburg is launching a large-scale music theatre project that integrates Magdeburg’s urban community.
One hundred years after the world-famous German Theatre Exhibition, which presented Magdeburg as a pioneering hub of theatre in 1927, this new project views the future as something revealed through action. Perspectives of the young generation play a significant role in this regard. The fundamental impulses and content will come from artistic labs with children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 16 on the topic “Modernism, or How We Regain the Future”. Based on this material, members of the ensemble from each artistic department will develop a performance in direct dialogue with the city’s inhabitants. Together with professional artists, an ensemble of Magdeburg residents will actively shape the artistic process. The project organisers will especially focus on involving local associations, interest groups, choirs, immigrant alliances and social organisations.
The music theatre piece “Gate to the World” is funded through General Project Funding by the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
