Project
Right-wing extremism is becoming increasingly prevalent in many schools in Germany. Teachers are being intimidated and receiving threats, while right-wing recruiters are specifically targeting young people. The Theater der Jungen Welt will address this topic in cooperation with the Hungarian Örkeny-Theater and the Dutch Theater Artemis as part of a European theatre partnership. The three theatres will develop a theatre production for young audiences at their respective venues in Hungary, the Netherlands and Germany. The three pieces will be presented together at a joint festival in Leipzig in spring 2029 and integrated into their theatre programmes in the long term. The production in Leipzig will be directed by general theatre director Miriam Tscholl, who, as founder of the Bürgerbühne Dresden, possesses years of experience in presenting topics on stage that are relevant to young people in a sensitive and convincing manner.
The play “Piss off to Berlin!” is funded through General Project Funding by the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
