Filmmaking during the German division - a comparison

The art cinemas "La Bim e.V." in Halle an der Saale and "Das Andere Kino e.V." in Lehrte near Hannover have much in common in respect to their film programmes. In a joint project on filmmaking in East and West Germany from the 1950s to the 1980s, the two cinemas showed a selection of the most significant films produced during the period of German division. The films were accompanied by lectures and audience discussion. A special programme was also developed for school classes.
