Allan Kaprow 1955 – 2006

Retrospective

Since the 1960s, the American artist Allan Kaprow has strongly influenced the genre of "happenings" by artistically combining painting, music and theatre. Because of the fleeting nature of his art forms, it is particularly difficult to document Kaprow's extensive oeuvre. The Haus der Kunst in Munich will present a retrospective of Kaprow's work with the aim of living up to Kaprow's wish that a museum not become a cemetery of art, but rather an "agency for action". Those who wish to attend the happenings can register online at www.kaprow.org (external link, opens in a new window) as well as upload images of happenings which they created themselves.
