An educational programme for the new Bauhaus museums – funded by the International thematic focus Bauhaus 2019

Bauhaus 2019 funding focus

In commemoration of the upcoming Bauhaus centennial, the Federal Cultural Foundation is funding an extensive programme highlighting the historical legacy, international influence and contemporary relevance of the Bauhaus.

Project description

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin/Museum für Gestaltung plan to launch a broad-based educational programme which will shape the future pedagogical activities in their new museums. In this joint programme, a team of “Bauhaus Agents” will work together with pupils, teachers, artists, designers, architects and urban researchers to develop new formats for an innovative and comprehensive educational programme at the new Bauhaus museums. Similar to a four-year training programme, each Bauhaus site will embark on new educational paths and explore new forms of collaboration. The goal is to incorporate the Bauhaus theme into the curricula at schools in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin in the run-up to the commemorative year 2019.

Starting in the 2016/17 school year, nine “Bauhaus Agents” designated by the Bauhaus institutions will begin working with pupils at 36 schools in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin for a period of four school years.
