Land and Property

“Who manages land and property, and how are they used?” These questions are at the heart of this exhibition featuring some twenty international artists and artist collectives. They address the various ways that humans manage resources – from indigenous practices to utopian blockchain projects. For example, the exhibition focuses on the high rental costs in big cities like Düsseldorf, and efforts to preserve the Amazon as the Earth’s green lung. The artworks and events reflect on the history of the global economy, and especially the role of cities like Düsseldorf which achieved prosperity through industry and mining. “Land and property” invites visitors to consider their own role in the global economy. The participants will develop works that explore promising examples of collective action and alternative solutions.
