The young Offenbach designers’ collective YRD.Works, comprised of Yacin Boudalfa, David Bausch and Ruben Fischer, and the Mousonturm team are about to fundamentally revise the concept of the “Künstlerhaus” (Artists’ Colony). “Künstlerhaus 2.0” goes in search for various dispositives of a post-disciplinary artists’ house of the future which liberates itself from the paradigms of existing architectural, institutionalised and cultural-political constraints. The members of YRD.Works are non-conformists; their actions go beyond conventional artistic systems of production and utilisation. Instead of adapting to existing architectural structures, they create temporary spaces – instead of subscribing to the mandate of autonomous art, they create places of encounter.
Following the installation of five temporary interventions in the Mousonturm, the Mousonturm team will be hosted by YRD.Works at the site of the former Offenbach harbour. YRD.Works will organise three artist-in-residency programmes whose aim will be to develop various versions of a Künstlerhaus 2.0 together with international performance collectives.
