Lothar Baumgarten

For many years, the artist Lothar Baumgarten has examined the exchange between the indigenous peoples of South America and the Western world. Much of his artwork deals with the culture of the Yanomani tribe in Venezuela, with whom he lived in the 1970s. Baumgarten's view of European colonisation of the Americas is the central theme of this exhibition which will be held at the Kurhaus Kleve Museum. The exhibition will also feature several of Baumgarten's new works, some of which refer to historical paintings from the colonial period.
