Project description

The Kulturhaus Häselburg is based and operates in the heart of Gera, a city which experienced a decline in importance in the 1990s due to its former role as an industrial location, including uranium mining by SDAG Wismut. Against this backdrop, the association organises cultural and social events, including concerts featuring young bands from the region, readings, workshops, exhibitions, performances, storytelling and neighbourhood cafés addressing current social issues. With LOKAL, Häselburg aims to counteract the feeling of being left behind. The association plans to collaborate with Grit Ruhland, an artist who specialises in community and public art and who has roots in the region. The focus will be on the topic of “repair” as something that many people have experience with.
