As artistic figures, ghosts can be interpreted as the projection and personification of social unease. Ghosts are extremely popular in diverse artistic fields and especially literature. On the societal level, the ghost cult can even be seen in the trend toward spiritualism and the hype surrounding human "mediums". The exhibition investigated spirits as the icons of our "media age" in which news broadcasts from foreign or distant worlds increasingly shape our perception. It was supplemented by a film programme featuring historic and contemporary ghost films, as well as a newspaper project in which ghost stories were presented in a historical and political context.
