Nira Pereg

Exhibition at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin

Nira Pereg

In summer 2028 the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin will present a survey exhibition of the Israeli artist Nira Pereg. The exhibition will feature several of the artist’s most significant pieces from the past two decades, as well as the new video work “Gate and Beyond” (working title) which she will complete in the next two years. Pereg is known for her multimedia works and spatial installations that examine how bodies and rituals are steered by invisible rules – rules that Pereg partly reveals by means of distortion. In her upcoming commissioned work “Gate und Beyond”, Pereg will investigate symbolic and architectural portals, including the gates of former concentration camps. One of the starting points of her artistic research was the gate of the Ravensbrück concentration camp which disappeared after World War II and was never seen again. Her artistic investigation draws on extensive field research and collaboration with researchers at the Ravensbrück Memorial.

A collaboration with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and Artis

To help cultural institutions in Germany intensify their collaboration with artists from Israel and cultivate more sustainable artistic partnerships, the German Federal Cultural Foundation is working together with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and Artis.
