On the Outside

Exhibition of the periphery of the capitalist system

With every aspect of society infiltrated by capitalism, it is crucial to examine how people can live and exist beyond the logic of this system. Developed in the experimental laboratory of social order, real-life capitalism seems to allow nothing to exist beyond itself - a life "outside" the system is said to be dangerous, or even impossible. Any expression of protest or critique of the current circumstances is monopolized, popularised and marketed by capitalism. Two well-known examples of this are punk and Hip-Hop. In the belief that art can be an effective tool to find alternatives and cross the system's boundaries, this exhibition project invites artists to explore both sides of the periphery of the capitalist system and set off in search of "Dystpopia".
