Ruth Patir – the square logic of Antiquity patronized by the present

Exhibition at the Kunstverein Hannover in 2027

Project

The Kunstverein Hannover, founded in 1832, is one of the largest and oldest art associations in the German-speaking region. Most recently, it has focused on staging solo exhibitions by “mid-career” artists – in other words, artists who have already garnered international attention but have not yet been featured in a solo exhibition in Germany.
In 2027 the Kunstverein Hannover is planning a solo exhibition of the Israeli artist and filmmaker Ruth Patir. Her works, which are often based on personal and autobiographical experiences, primarily use moving pictures and methods of digital imagination which combine auto-fictional aspects with technological reflections and resistance. Using historical figures, avatars and archaeological artefacts, Ruth Patir artistically applies 3D animation, CGI and experimental imaging technology to make very personal stories relatable to the viewer. In this project for the Kunstverein Hannover, she will be creating a new piece.

A collaboration with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and Artis

To help cultural institutions in Germany intensify their collaboration with artists from Israel and cultivate more sustainable artistic partnerships, the German Federal Cultural Foundation is working together with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and Artis.
