Hamburg Klangwerktage 2007

Festival for young contemporary music

"SONG unlimited" was the motto of this year's Hamburg Klangwerktage 2007, a festival for young contemporary music. One of the main events was the second annual composition contest which invited young international composers to enter their composed songs in competition. At the composition workshop festivalCampus, the winning laureates had the opportunity to work together with renowned musicians and poets from the Leipzig German Literature Institute to create a group composition. The festival has established cooperative partnerships with the Conservatoire National Superieure Musique et Danse de Lyon and the Beijing Modern Festival which gave festival-goers the opportunity to listen to contemporary song compositions from France and China. Scientific and cultural-political lectures were also offered at an accompanying international symposium based on the theme of the festival.
