Marais

Acoustic-visual research excursion into the musical world of Marin Marais

The Italian composer and performance artist Roberto Paci Dalò took his audiences on an acoustic-visual research excursion into the musical world of the Baroque composer Marin Marais. The viola da gamba works by Marais were performed by the gambist Hille Perl and the lutist Lee Santana in a space delimited mainly by illumination and projections. The extraordinary musical repertoire was visually and spatially expanded on the stage by means of two projection screens, on which sequences of pre-produced elements and live video streams were shown. The director set the projected images contrapuntally to the music. The premiere was held during the festival Zeitfenster - the 4th Biennial of Ancient Music at Radialsystem V in Berlin.
