German-Polish contemporary string quartet exchange

Works of contemporary art reflect how a nation currently sees itself. It seems that multinational collaboration on contemporary compositions would be particularly suited to motivating young musicians from various countries to become familiar with the unique characteristics of other countries. This project wishes to motivate young German and Polish music students from German and Polish colleges of music to acquaint themselves more intensively with quartet compositions and rehearse them together. In order to prepare the students for a competition and award finalist concerts in Munich and Breslau, they were invited to participate in a workshop led by composers and professional quartet players. The award winners of 2007 then performed in concert at the largest Polish festival of contemporary art - Warsaw Autumn.
