Borderlines. Exploring the Border between Berlin and Leeds

A joint programme by the Theater an der Parkaue and the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds (GB) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund

This project sends German and English youth out to explore the borders within their cities - the former Berlin Wall in Berlin and the borders dividing the city quarters in Leeds. The participants will investigate to what extent historic, social and mental borders influence their identities. The youngsters will then present their findings in workshop performances in both cities. Based on these performances, the Berlin director Lajos Talamonti and the British writer Aisha Khan will then develop a play to be performed by actors in the partner theatres of both cities. The programme also includes the exchange of theatre personnel, guest performances and an international forum for theatre pedagogy and art education.
