La Marea

Open-air theatre project

The "Wrangelkiez" is part of the Berlin district of Kreuzberg and was the venue of a theatre production with scenes in stores, bars and book shops. Over a period of several hours, the audience was able to stroll from scene to scene, creating interactive situations between the viewers, passers-by, residents and actors. The dialogues revealed the characters' inner worlds and took their viewers on a journey into their past or future. The text was not spoken, but rather projected as subtitles, creating a dynamic relationship between what the viewers see and what they read. The Argentinean director Mariano Pensotti has staged successful productions in Buenos Aires and Brussels applying the same high-quality textual precision to an open-air event.
