Meditation Reprise (working title)

Meditation Reprise

In his new dance production “Meditation Reprise”, choreographer Kyle Abraham explores his roots in the New York house scene of the 1990s and investigates the emancipative power of club culture. For the American choreographer, house is not a contest or competition, but a place of shared community. In the piece, Abraham reflects on his own artistic development and examines to what extent the language of movement of club music can merge with academic dance styles. The classically trained dancers of Abraham’s dance company A.I.M will present a synthesis of ballet and club dance techniques, supported by a soundscape designed by house producer Theo Parrish.

The world premiere will take place during the Real Dance Festival 2026 at the Kulturzentrum Pavillon in Hannover. The project aims to generate long-term impulses for the local culture – and especially dance scenes – in the capital of Lower Saxony. The organisers plan to offer master classes and arrange other encounters between Abraham and the local dance scenes. The performances will be accompanied by audio descriptions for visually impaired audience members.
