Performance series
The artists Alex & Liane from the performance group Gob Squad developed a new theatrical format in a three-part performance series featuring well-known musicians and bands. Deichkind, Jimi Tenor, musicians of the bands Kante and Selig (Jan Plewka), Julia Hummer and others were protagonists in the three performances which examined the star cult promoted by the emotionalization of music and its instrumentalization. Known for their installations and numerous performances, Alex & Liane staged the bands and their performances in a music concert style with 800 to 1000 concertgoers at each performance - a turn-out that theatre alone can rarely achieve. The performances were interspersed with film sequences and theatrical scenes which aimed to tarnish the mythos of stars and provide an insider view of the mechanisms of interaction between the artists/stars and their fans.
