Victory over the Sun

With its production of “Victory over the Sun”, the performance collective Showcase Beat Le Mot plans to revive the Russian opera of the same name which premiered in 1913. The piece by the interdisciplinary avant-garde group Matyushin, Malevich, Kruchonykh und Khlebnikov, exists only as a fragment with no fixed libretto or music. The plan is to develop the piece as a full-scale stage production and present it to international audiences. In cooperation with HAU Hebbel am Ufer, the Estonian-Russian ensemble of the Von Krahl Theatre in Tallinn, the Israeli composer Maya Dunietz and the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, the new production of the opera will premiere at the end of 2025, and in the following year, embark on an international tour featuring an additional act.
