In cooperation with the Università di Venezia, the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen initiated a performative analysis of the Communist Manifesto. One of project's goal was to find new artistic formats (such as video, theatre, music and performance) which offer a contemporary interpretation of this classic work of modern political philosophy. Directed by Heiner Goebbels and Walter La Moli, twenty young theatre and live-art artists developed a dramatic performance based on an up-to-date reading of the Manifesto. On the basis of its literary form, the text was subsequently examined in terms of its potential for analysing aspects of globalisation. Following the performances in Parma and Torino, the pieces were presented at the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt.
