Transformation Forever

Projekt

With “Transformation Forever”, HELLERAU revisits the 1990s to explore the artistic-cultural phenomena of that decade and other contemporaneous societal developments. What role did art and culture play in the transformation processes of Central Europe? How does a younger generation view the years during which East Germany and Central Europe shifted toward democracy after the fall of the Berlin Wall? In addition to new productions and guest performances, the programme includes lecture performances, a residency programme with partners in Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Hungary, as well as an international forum on the working methods of artists, cultural professionals and NGOs. The programme kicks off in September 2025 with a reenactment of “Genetik Woyzeck” (1997), one of the first theatre pieces which interwove elements of cinematography and theatre art in a visionary manner.
