Transformation Forever

Projekt

With the festival ‘Transformation Forever’, HELLERAU is travelling from Dresden to the spirit of optimism and freedom that characterised Central and Eastern Europe in the 1990s in order to reveal the social developments and transformation processes of that time and explore their influence on contemporary artistic and cultural phenomena. The project, with its various programme modules, will run from 5 September to 6 December 2025. Transformation Forever will feature international new productions and guest performances in the genres of dance, theatre, performance and music. An essential concern is joint encounter and work formats with partners and artists from Central and Eastern Europe. There will be four new short productions on the theme of ‘Freedom, Departure, Crash’, and as part of a collaboration with five residency venues in Ljubljana, Prague, Lviv, Warsaw and Budapest, residencies on the theme of Dreaming 90s will be awarded to young artists. The programme also includes a wide-ranging discourse programme, workshops and meeting formats, as well as a cultural forum with guests from 15 Central and Eastern European countries.
