Weimar Triangle

at the art festival Weimar

Directors: Jochen Schölch (D), Joël Jouanneau (F), Krzysztof Warlikowski (PL)
Venue: Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar
Schedule: 7 - 14 Sep. 2006

Since the so-called Weimar Triangle was established in 1991 by the foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland, the frequent contact between the countries' representatives has resulted in numerous impulses which have promoting mutual understanding among these nations. In an effort to give this constellation a corresponding cultural scope, this year's Kunstfest Weimar has invited three theatre productions from Poland, France and Germany to contribute to the current debate concerning "foreigners". Poland will present a play by the Israeli author Hanoch Levin, the German production will deal with the "Golem" legend in Prague, and the French will perform a Beckett play. Following the performances, directors, critics and cultural experts will join in discussions aimed to help understand the cultural identity of other countries through their references to each other.
