Where the Metaphors Bloom

A joint programme by the Junges Ensemble Stuttgart and La Baracca, Bologna (Italy) - supported by the Wanderlust Fund

The Junges Ensemble Stuttgart and La Baracca in Bologna have agreed to collaborate on a two-year cooperative project to develop a new play for young children and a joint youth project for Italian and German youngsters. The artistic cooperation between these children’s and youth theatres will result in three productions that focus on the cohesive and divisive character of the spoken word, as well as search for a new international theatre language. How important is language in artistic and social communication? Is language becoming more international in our current, media-dominated age? In what ways is the language of youngsters changing and how do preschoolers react to language in theatre?
