Extraordinary and Obscene – Rolf Dieter Brinkmann and Pop Literature
Exhibition
Rolf Dieter Brinkmann (1940-1975), the German underground poet, is securely anchored in today's literary canon in school, yet is (still) widely unknown by the majority of the population. This project pays tribute to the co-founder of the Beat generation, the writer, collagist, creator of audio books, and the catalyst who popularised Anglo-American pop and underground culture in Germany.
Artistic director: Uwe Husslein
Participants: Rolf Dieter Brinkmann, Jörg Schröder, Ralf Rainer Rygulla, Jürgen Ploog, Carl Weissner, Jens Hagen, Brigitte Friedrich, Harald Bergmann, Marcel Bayer; William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Ted Berrigan, Charles Bukowski, Gerard Malanga, Andy Warhol (all USA), and others
