This project by the Fundus Theater Hamburg plans to create a German version of the game “Playing up” which introduces children and adults to the art of performance. Originally presented at the Tate Modern in London, the game has attracted worldwide interest.
The publication of the German version will provide museums in Germany the opportunity to stage public “play-ins” with the assistance of the Fundus Theater. The events will offer families, school classes, children and adults new ways to learn about the museums and their collections. To this end, the Fundus Theater plans to collaborate with three German museums in order to incorporate references to their respective institution and collections. The museum teams will attend a preparatory workshop and participate in the implementation of the events.
The project will conclude with a “Train the Trainers” workshop to enable other interested museums and multipliers to carry out play-ins themselves. By transferring knowledge in this way, the organisers hope to generate further applications of “Playing up” within the German museum sector, as well as in other cultural education contexts.
