hamlet_X, a project directed by the Berlin actor Herbert Fritsch, portrayed the Hamlet mythos from the perspective of modern, everyday life. For this project, the original Hamlet was divided up into 111 parts and adapted to other artistic fields. Three DVDs have already come out since 2001, each of which featured 11 filmed Hamlet miniatures. These were supplemented by two more DVD editions. In addition to Hamlet printed in two languages (German and English), the book edition also features film stills, comics, secondary texts and anecdotes about the Hamlet mythos. Five "hamlet_X events" - installations, shows and lectures - were presented at various venues in the German-speaking countries.
