Videonale 11

International video art festival with exhibitions

The international video art festival Videonale in the Kunstmuseum Bonn showcases the newest works which combine art, video and film. In addition to the international video art competition, the festival features an accompanying exhibition and podium discussions about current issues in the field of media art. The festival is widely regarded as one of the most important forums for cutting-edge video art in Germany and attracts young international audiences each year. Unlike the festivals of past years, the Videonale 11 was extended by one month. The festival included a praxis-oriented accompanying programme with workshops and seminars tailored to the interests of younger artists. In response to the frequent criticism of the "black box" atmosphere at video art shows, the Kunstmuseum Bonn offered creative alternatives to the classical museum exhibitions of video art.
