Turntable EastWestGermany
Explanations
Together with the Institute for Cinema and Film Culture in Cologne, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Film e.V. in Wismar developed and hosted a cultural and media arts symposium titled "Turntable EastWestGermany". Every year around German Unity Day (17 June), the Documentary Film Festival in Poel presents the newest film and video productions based on the subject of "Film Location EastWestGermany". In 2004, the film festival included the interdisciplinary cultural and media arts symposium which addressed the topic of "German history in authorial films after 1945 - an attempt at an East-West German discourse". Filmmakers, cultural experts, media arts scholars and film critics were invited to lecture and participate at the symposium. Both the festival and symposium were broadcast live over the Internet via video stream. The public also had the opportunity to participate in the symposium through an Internet chat room and e-mail.
