Fast Forward – Streetart@Hellerau

Interdisciplinary theme-based festival

Ever since they emerged in the 1970s, Street Art, hip-hop and Urban Art have been shaping the appearance of streets, subways and public locations. This is where artists democratize public space and demand a voice in society and the art world. Even the protesters of the Arab Spring and the Occupy Movement laid claim to the street as a place of action and artistic expression. The festival “Fast Forward – Streetart@Hellerau” will present the culture and protagonists of Street Art with 90 guest artists from Germany and abroad. The invited participants include the pioneers of Street Art and fine artists, such as Futura, Delta, JayOne and Toxicómano, choreographers like Kadir Memis alias Amigo and Bruno Beltrão, and musicians, such as Beelow and Sly the Mic Buddah. The festival will demonstrate how Street Art has changed public spaces and influenced dance, music, graffiti art, new media and the fine arts. The focus of the festival will be on the artistic treatment of movement, dance and the body.
The performances, concerts, exhibition, works and actions will transform the Hellerau art centre, the festival hall and the city of Dresden into a gigantic artistic, experimental fairground for two weeks.
