Kavalierstart 1978 - 1982

Exhibition

The exhibition Kavalierstart 1978 - 1982 presented the artistic positions of the early 1980s - a time when artists developed a new form of "thought in pictures". Exhibition goers had the opportunity to view many early works by artists who have become quite famous since. The curator, Stefanie Kreuzer, has chosen the artists based on their high degree of sensitivity and their perceptive detection of societal and cultural changes. The artists featured in this exhibition applied strategies that were quite different from the modern rationalistic and functionalistic tendencies in that they focused more strongly on fiction and narration, irony, appropriation and simulation.
