Three Colours: XIII – XV Rohkunstbau

Explanations

The Rohkunstbau exhibitions at the Wasserschloss Groß Leuthen in Brandenburg usually featured contemporary artworks which dealt with the rural and idyllic region along the Polish border. The thematic focus of the Rohkunstbau exhibitions XIII-XV was the legendary film trilogy Blue, White, Red by the Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski which addresses the ideals of the French Revolution. "Three Colors Red" was the title of the XV. Rohkunstbau in 2008. International artists created pieces with reference to the local region, emphasising the significance of these democratic principles in Europe's unification process.
