Can Do Can Dance

In "community dance" projects, professional dancers and choreographers work together with various social classes. Everyone dances with each other - children, immigrants, senior citizens, handicapped individuals, delinquents, etc. The artistic director Royston Maldoom and a team of international choreographers will develop numerous productions with mixed groups of people. Not only will the events cover the entire spectrum of dance, but also apply the art as a "tool" for personal development and social change. The individual productions will be performed at smaller theatres, school auditoriums and local community centres. The project will culminate in a gala presentation featuring all the productions at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus. A symposium and a master class for professional dancers, led by Maldoom, will discuss the further development of "community dance" and work on new methods of promoting it.
