Road Theatre

Transatlantic theatre project

Following a "prologue" in Berlin, the production company German Theater Abroad (GTA) of Berlin ventured on an unusual American tour with Roland Schimmelpfennig's play "Start Up". The GTA took a bus across the country from New York City to Los Angeles and performed wherever they could find an available vacant space. They also invited local high school students to rehearse and accompany the production of Schimmelpfennig's black comedy about "culture clash" and the American dream of young German immigrants. Following their tour, the GTA presented an epilogue in Germany based on what they experienced in the US.
